Assorted Flowers

Here are some more images of flowers I took this spring. These first two are forget-me-nots. They are remarkably tiny!

More forget-me-nots:

I have no idea what these are called, but I thought they were awfully pretty.

I don’t know what this is either. It may be a kind of orchid. Whatever it is, I like it.

Nightfire Hibiscus

I’ve taken several trips to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA to make images of their amazing collection of hibiscus. While they are all stunning, my favorite variety is the Nightfire. I liked these images so much that they are the new artwork on our guest room walls. From this day forward, our guest room will be known as The Hibiscus Room. I know you can’t see it, but I’m giggling with delight!

This is a macro shot of the stamen of the hibiscus:

This is a maro shot water drops on of the center of the hibiscus flower, at the base of the stamen where the petals separate out:

And finally, here is a shot of a water drops on the edge of a hibiscus petal:

I think God is an amazing artist, don’t you?

Daffodil

I hope you’re not getting bored with spring flowers, because I’m not! It’s such a time of abundance for blooms, I can’t help but immerse myself in their glory. Here is my take on the humble daffodil:

Asiatic Lilies

Obviously, I’m on a flower kick these days. What else is spring for? These images are all asiatic lilies at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. Well, except the last image, which is a flower that shared a planter with the lilies. I have no idea what it is, except pretty.

Happy Easter!

In celebration of Easter, it seemed only appropriate to include an Easter lily, even though it actually has nothing to do with Jesus’ sacrifice for us, but, oh well… Here it is:

Tulips

This set of images is especially for my friend Christine. Honestly, I’ve never seen anyone get happy as quickly as she does at the sight of tulips! Happy spring, Christine!

Calla Lily

I found a pot of calla lilies for sale at the grocery store the other day, and just couldn’t resist bringing them home (after paying for them, of course!) to play with in the studio. I was drawn to them because of the graceful curves of the flowers, as well as how nicely the purple of the flowers is off-set by the green leaves. Here is a small sampling of the shots I have taken so far:
